A Sweet Moment with Brevin

So tonight I called Daniel to get his professional opinion about the computer driver that Caylee knocked off-track and now won't close. Our conversation was moving into a deeper conversation about his blog when Brevin (who was hiding out in my room to avoid bed time) and I have this exchange.

Me: blah, blah, blah, blah about the blog

Brevin: Mom

Me: and blah, blah

Brevin: Mom

Me: Blah? Blah, blah, blah, and blah

Brevin: Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom

Me: What Brevin?

Brevin: [silently looks at me since he's surprised to have my attention] Um . . .

Me: What is it? [I'm all impatient since he's interrupting me. When he paused I honestly thought he was going to just give me a kiss or tell me he loves me since I have called on him and he didn't really have anything prepared for when I finally acknowledged him]

Brevin: Um . . . Why do you look so fat? [And at this point he reaches up and caresses my belly]

Me: What? I thought you were going to say something nice now that you have my attention!

Brevin: Well, it's just that your tummy is so big.

Me: Thanks Brevin. [Daniel is laughing now.]

Brevin: It looks like you're going to have another baby.

OH YEAH! I can tell those early morning workouts at the gym are making a BIG freakin' difference!

Whatever. I still love the little stinker!

Ah yes...I have totally been there many times with my children. The only difference is that I really AM fat, and you look awesome!! They really are stinkers, but so cute at the same time, though!

He must have been hanging out with Logan--he'll be folding laundry and hold up a shirt and completely shocked say, "whose shirt is this?!" (it's mine)--no way mom, it's waaaaay too tiny for you!" And then when he saw my wedding dress--"you would be stuck if you put that on!" That's just some of his comments--such a little chauvanist!

Ouch! That stings. Don't let the little man set ya back, just keep on keeping on!

Aren't their brutally honest moments just the best? I think you look FABULOUS!

Oh, it's all so relative. You really aren't looking pregnant. Hang in there.

You just have to chalk those comments up to their perspective--at 4 yrs old Brev is still so little, EVERYTHING is big to him. I'm sure to every kid their mom has a ginormous butt--no matter if you're in great shape with a fab-o toosh, staring up from below your mom's hiney will of course make it look big. Same thing with your tummy. Although, Brev does seem to take particular notice of your physical traits...isn't he the same one who asked why your boobs 'go down'?

At least he didn't push on your belly and tell you how squishy it is and ask why you have soooo much fat on your belly. And that's from my 6 yr old. I just blame it on her and tell her it's because I had babies. Yeah, it has NOTHING to do with all the chocolate and other yummy snacks I'm chowing on. It's okay! They only think we're fat because they weigh like 30-50 pounds. Umm, just the amount most of us need to lose!!!

Sarah, this has nothing to do with your post but I was just blog surfing and I wanted to let you know that you did a great job tonight speaking at our Young Women in Excellence! I didn't get to talk to you before you left. Taylor commented on the way home on what an awesome speaker you are. I always love your enthusiasm for life! I am glad that we have gotten to know each other better over the last year or two!
