I have been under strict orders to protect the identity of the above subject of this above picture. I need to know WHAT is wrong with sending this 9 yr. old female to school (NOT the golf course) in this outfit? Please let us know what you think of it, and be honest.
Don't hold back. (I know some of you out there aren't too afraid to tell me what you REALLY think. I can handle your opinion, even if it's not going to be nice. I'm even prepared for judgemental comments about WHO I am and/or my character, Those comments I will rise above.)

absolutely nothing.
style-wise plaid shorts have been a classic staple of the tween-teen set this past season? hollister, abercrombie, and j. crew all had plaid versions of shorts. a few of my photography clients wore plaid bermudas or skirts this season.
the only comment i will say that is a fashion faux pas is the shoes. my girls would tell you that you need a pair of ballet-style slip-on tennis shoes or some converse.
and just so miss anonymous knows, all 3 of my girls possess similar shorts worn with a a similar polo or a t-shirt.
I think it is a very cute outfit! Maybe the shoes...but overall so cute!
I agree... outfit is good, shoes should go.
I like the shoes, it shows that the "person" is sporty or at least a wanna be sporty! Totally cute. I've enjoyed all the comments and posts about your political posts! You really know how to fire things up, don't ya?!!!!!!
Absolutely nothing wrong, especially if it is a PE day. This is coming from someone who will often wear tennis shoes when maybe I shouldn't because I just want to be comfortable and I don't care what other people think. You also have to remember I wear a size 12 shoe so it's not like I have many other options most of the time.
I hear plaids are back in. Seems like the unnamed 9 year old is more in style than I am.
Not so crazy about the shiny shoes, but the shorts and top are cute.
CUTE~I happen to like the whole darn outfit. The shiny shoes are totally in style and my Maggie wants a pair of completely shiney silver tennis shoes herself.
Although I would need to know where YOU stand on this outfit so I can gage whether or not you're a good mother!luv ya!
this is nate
Maybe it's just me, but the outfit definitely needs a head. looks okay except maybe the blue shirt... looks to me like the outfit is a black and pink themed outfit. I think I see a little bit of blue in the plaid short, but not quite enough. lose the blue shirt for a pink one. oh, and that basic black s(k)hirt is so last year. try something more..... hmmmmm..... polka-dot-esque......?
k. re-thought my answer. the black shirt looks too long. makes the knee length shorts look not so knee length... more short. the knee length shorts look too much like shorts that are short of knee length.
I see the same outfit everywhere, CUTE, I like it. I'd wear it. But what do I know I live in Idaho and I'm old?!
crap, I changed my mind again...... I decided, after much much debate, that the outfit is just fine. even the shoes everyone seems to dislike are just fine; it's not like a 9 year old needs to dress up shorts just cause they happen to be plaid. shorts are shorts and nike's are great for shorts. they'd look goofy if you had tall socks on, but it looks just fine.
I think that if everyone reads the responses to the post I think the answers are there. I know that the Writer of this post is thirty and I am thirty and I think the outfit is fine so duh it must be certain death to nine year olds!!
O.K. I will tell you what I REALLY think, like I did on my last comment (a couple posts below)! You are the bomb! And anyone who questions YOUR character really ought to take a deep look at their own! As for the outfit, I dig it kids that age can wear gym shoes with anything and get away with it! But I do feel your pain, we have "shoe" issues every morning!
I would dress both my girls in that exact outfit, so I obviously like the entire thing. But, I agree with the last comment from the fatman. I love the outfit but to a 9 year old it might not be something they wanted to wear. Do they like Blue? Maybe they think there is too much of that?
For whatever my lack-of-fashion-sense opinion is worth, it looks fine to me. What is the mystery 9 year old's opposition to it?
Oh...the fun is JUST beginning!
I do like the tile and the clean base boards. First of all, you need to bring the subject off the wall a little. Get some distance behind her and then set up for a shallow depth of field on the camera. Also, open some windows and take it during the day so you can eliminate the tell tale "on camera flash" shadows. maybe try a darker wall so her skin tone pops out a little.
Once you have all that set up it all depends
If...lets call her Mac for the sake of being generic...if Mac has a tennis racket on her shoulder and is walking with a big smile, sun on her hidden face and wind blowing her hair then the outfit is perfect.
If she's toting a very stylish purse and headed to the movies, I'd go with the flats or Converse.
Well, since I have actually seen this ensemble in person--at the back to school fashion show--I think it's adorable. I know...at the fashion show she had a sweater on instead of a polo. But I am a fan of polo's...they are SOOOO not JUST for the golf course! And I also 'get' the whole tennishoes thing since today WAS P.E. We have the same shoe dilemmas at our house on P.E. days--those are definitely trying mornings. Love the tennishoes---I think they go with anything. And because I have also seen those in person, I do know they're not at shiny as they look in this picture. Adorable. But I'm with Nate--put that 9-yr-old's head on, and the outfit would go from being 'cute' to totally irresistable adorable!!! Hope tomorrow morning goes better for you than this morning did!
P.S. Daniel, I know this is hard to take, but you're 31 now, my dear. Gone are your days of being the 30-year-old spring chicken. Just wanted to point that out to you since you're obviously in denial.
Shut up Erin I will be thirty until 2023
I love that outfit - it's super sporty and Ralph Lauren like.
I agree maybe ballet flats would have been a better shoe choice, but I absolutely think she looks fantastic!
A polo should only be worn with plaid shorts at the golf course and pair of flip flops would have been better with the outfit but then again it was P.E. day and schools don't allow open toe shoes.
